Salary:
£27,131 to £28,762 with progression to £31,411 per annum

The Role


Based in the School of Medicine within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, you will organise, manage and prioritise the business needs for the team to ensure provision of an efficient support service for both staff and students in line with School learning and teaching objectives.

The balance of responsibilities within the team will vary according to the nature and scale of the programmes within the School.

To lead, manage and develop a team. This will include responsibility for the allocation of work and prioritisation of duties, and ensuring sufficient cover is in place at all times,

You should have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills; be able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail; be a team player; and possess the ability to use your own initiative and to prioritise your own workload.

Flexibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy are also essential, as is a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.

Key Accountabilities
Responsibility for staff induction, training, performance management and Performance Development Review (PDR)

Ensure a truly inclusive and respectful environment, by role modelling behaviours and ensuring the implementation of all Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (ED&I) policies and action plans such as Athena SWAN.

The post holder will be expected to lead on actions and initiatives which promote ED&I and which support the Faculty's ambitions to become an exemplar

To co-ordinate the School assessment procedures, including convening examination boards and ensuring correct set up of associated systems and databases.

To ensure documentation is accurately prepared and all marks and decisions are recorded accurately. Includes liaison with colleagues to ensure all learning, teaching and student experience matters dealt with in the front facing offices (e.g. PEC, coursework marks) are communicated to the appropriate Learning and Teaching staff for completion. Where appropriate to act as secretary to Module Moderation Boards and Boards of Examiners, including agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions

To ensure, in conjunction with the Learning and Teaching Team, that all administrative functions relating to learning and teaching across the full student lifecycle (from registration, through progression to completion) are carried out effectively and to the highest standard.

This will include delegation of duties to the School's Learning & Teaching team as appropriate
Responsible for defining annual teaching and assessment calendar, including system set-up to enable accurate online recording of marks
Responsible for providing guidance, based on regulations, to students and academic staff with regard to non-standard requests, and for providing student-based manage
