Housing and Engagement Officer

Shropshire Rural Housing Association rents hundreds of properties to tenants across the county, and we are looking for a Housing and Engagement Officer to join our team.


It's a hugely rewarding role, helping people through the process of finding their new home and supporting existing tenants to ensure they can influence our ongoing work.


What will you do?

  • Allocate housing to prospective tenants quickly, efficiently and fairly.
  • Encourage and implement tenant engagement, influence and scrutiny.
  • Work with new tenants to ensure they understand the conditions of their tenancy.
  • Support tenants to reduce antisocial behaviour and nuisance.
  • Report progress to relevant committees and the Association board.

What do we need from you?

  • Experience of service delivery, ideally within a social housing environment, to a high standard of customer satisfaction and excellence.
  • Good understanding of housing needs and how needs are prioritised in allocating social housing.
  • Track record of delivering high levels of performance ideally in allocations, lettings and tenant services.
  • Able to work on own initiative, plan and organise own workload to meet deadlines in a team environment of competing priorities and pressures.
  • Committed to encouraging tenants to engage with their landlord to influence their housing services.
  • Able to interview applicants, complete home visits, investigate individual circumstances, maintain accurate records and signup new tenants.
