You will be the leader of this key area of our service with responsibility for providing 24 hour high quality centered care across the Labour Ward, Maternity Triage and Maternity Antenatal ward (Lewis suite) as directed by the Head of Midwifery (HOM).

As the positive role model for the area your expert clinical advice and support will be of benefit to all staff.

Strong clinical leadership is required in the management of this group of clients some with highly complex medical and social problems

Some of your responsibilities includes:
The ability to identify and facilitate strategies for the service improvement and potential development initiatives.


To actively participate in the management of all maternity services such as participation in the manager on call rota, deputising for the HOM where required.

You will monitor and manage resources within a defined budget and be responsible for people management including the completion of annual appraisals, sickness management and disciplinary matters.


We pride ourselves in encouraging user participation and as such you will contribute to our Maternity Voice partnership meetings and respond to feedback from our women and birthing partners.


As Intrapartum Matron you will be expected to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that robust systems are in place and that continuous quality improvement programmes are used to maintain the high standards of care expected at Imperial.
