The Sterile Services Team Leader will be the first point of contact for Sterile Services Staff, Services Users and the Outsourced Service Provider.

The postholder will be responsible for supervising and providing direction to the Sterile Services Assistants.

Main duties will include:


Being accountable for the receipt and distribution of Sterile Surgical Instrumentation and the collection and dispatch of used Surgical Instrumentation to and from all areas of Trust.


receiving and checking all incoming orders, checking that the right items and the right quantities have been received and that the quality of the goods is as expected.

maintaining records of all equipment and managing sufficient levels of stock.

The Sterile Services Team Leader is an important first point of contact for all staff in relation to the Sterile Services Department.

There are a number of supervisory, stock management and data control tasks associated with the role, including:

Receipt and distribution of Sterile Surgical Instrumentation and the collection and dispatch of used/soiled Surgical Instrumentation.

Ensuring that all instrumentation movement is recorded using the Trust's database software and scanning equipment.

Ensuring that a complete, efficient and auditable stock control system is maintained

Receiving and checking all incoming orders.

Creating and maintaining tray history records and all associated spreadsheets and files.

Providing regular reports and updates and to monitor any changes in activity

Raising requisitions for supplies needed either paper based or electronically.

Maintaining stock to agreed level.

To liaising with customers and suppliers, dealing with queries, complaints and requests as required.

Maintaining stock areas in a clean and orderly state to the agreed departmental standards
