Nexxus Care are looking for a Learning Disability Support Worker - Full time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, confident and passionate Support Worker to work in our exceptional short breaks and respite centre based in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, our centre supports adults with learning disabilities.
No 2 days are the same within our respite centre - we can accommodate up to 5 overnight clients with the addition of day centre users.
Shift times are typically 7am - 3pm, 3pm-10pm and 9.45pm - 7.45amThe role of a Nexxus Care support worker will include:
- Supporting clients to live independently
- from helping prepare and cook delicious healthy meals, attending appointments, managing budgets and shopping.
- Accessing the community supporting clients to participate in local social events, promoting life skills, individual hobbies and interests
Communication
- Building strong working relationships with our clients to ensure person centred care is being upheld. Promoting positive relationships to help understand the client, their needs, wants and goals. Learning different ways of communicating ie Makaton, Braille
- Personal Care help clients prepare for their day. Some clients will require further support with their personal care including washing, bathing, showering, toileting etc
- Encouraging individuality whilst making a real difference to lives of clients with a learning disability, they are diverse in their needs and abilities. We are proud to support individuals to thrive in a safe, happy and comfortable environment.
