Our mechanical engineering manufacturing big client located in Gaydon is looking for a Lead Bespoke Designer to be part of their crew, on a 12-month flexible contract, inside IR35.
About the Job:
This role offers a chance for a Lead Bespoke Designer to provide our Clients' most demanding customers with unique and visually attractive geometry transformations (such as Wheels, Grilles, Interior Touchpoints, and more).
You'll collaborate with the broader Brand, Vehicle & Materiality design teams, offering technical expertise to steer the design journey from initial concept to final execution.
You'll play a key role in crafting a customized strategy that matches the luxury image our Client is aiming to establish for their Modern Luxury vehicles.
Excellent verbal and visual presentation skills are essential, with brainstorming conducted through classic sketches and software like Photoshop, Alias, VRED.
Experience in 3D modeling; handling both physical and digital models, and supporting studio engineering, C&M, and program management are essential.
Being a flexible team player who thrives on overcoming unique challenges will give you an edge.
Main Responsibilities:
To lead and support the advancement of innovative concepts and detail design aspects for delivery programs (focused on geometry) by introducing and visualizing fresh concepts and pushing the boundaries of conventional problem-solving.
Engage with various teams to ensure seamless communication on project viability and 3D progress.
Contribute to refining the visual and physical design attributes of the assigned project to the highest possible standards.
Undertake any additional tasks related to the role as instructed by the line manager.
Required Skills:
Creative brainstorming through 2D sketches, renders, and 3D digital models.
Proficiency in creating digital 3D data like Alias Design delivery skills.
Required Experience:
Minimum degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Automotive Design, Interior Design, or Transport Design.
Preferably, background experience in seating design with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
Demonstrated skills in illustration and visual storytelling to convey concepts and solutions effectively.
Great comprehension of surface aesthetics, juxtaposition, and appearance evaluation.
Extensive understanding of engineering, manufacturing techniques, and market/business intelligence.
Prior involvement in designing for Automotive or Product Design, encompassing the ability to visualize and articulate design solutions in 2D and 3D formats.
Proficient in Photoshop with solid IT skills, especially in design-related software such as ALIAS, VRED, and Power-Point.
Thorough knowledge of surfacing requirements.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in non-automotive design realms like Architecture, Product Design, Interior Design, or Furniture Design.
A personal enthusiasm for everything related to design.
An eye for detail and a passion for precision and impeccable craftsmanship.
