JOB OVERVIEW


The Head Barista is responsible for operating a section of the Bar, supervising and assisting the Baristas in preparing and serving coffee-based beverages and creating exceptional customer experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Head Barista, you will:

Exceptional Customer Experiences

  • Welcome customers to build rapport and create a great first impression
  • Know your menus and recipes in detail, so you and your team can advise customers on ingredients and beverage choices
  • Prepare and serve a range of perfectly brewed coffeebased drinks, using manual and automatic grinders and pressers
  • Prepare and serve a range of quality teas and botanicals, understanding the different flavours, aromas and benefits
  • Make sure that food allergies and dietary requirements are treated with absolute seriousness by all Team Members in your section
  • Communicate effectively with the service team so that all orders are correct, wellpresented and delivered on time
  • Train the service team on the differences between coffee types and serves in an easytounderstand way to improve their product knowledge
  • Contribute to achieving bar revenue targets through upselling
  • Aim to exceed every guest's expectations, ensure the team consistently offers high quality service
  • Recognise repeat customers and their preferences, offering personalised customer service
  • Carry out customer satisfaction checks, taking quick action to improve service and resolve complaints, supporting your team where needed.

Day-To-Day Essentials

  • Make sure that you strictly comply with all regulations and standards, including health, safety and hygiene.
  • Set up your section for service, and make sure that equipment, guest areas and work areas are clean and tidy throughout the shift
  • Make sure that you record all transactions in the POS system accurately at the time of order, that billing is accurate and that cash handling complies with hotel guidelines
  • Stock and replenish inventory and supplies and assist with ordering
  • Maintain barista equipment and machinery to the highest standards, coordinating the maintenance schedule and records
  • Keep up to date with the latest coffee trends and brewing methods
  • Give feedback and suggestions to the bar leadership team to improve customer and team member experiences

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


We're looking for someone with a passion for coffee and bars, and at least two years' experience in a similar position.

A good understanding of coffee origins, roasts, blends and flavours is essential. Coffee certification, latte art skills and experience in signature coffee development would be an advantage.
