Job Summary

We are looking for a General Lab and R&D technician to support our exciting Research & Development work. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who can turn their practical skills to supporting the team in the rapid and challenging environment of a scale-up company.

They will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to help deliver world leading innovations in ultrasonics.

  • HNC or equivalent in a technical discipline (engineering, physics or similar) or
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in a similar workshop or laboratory role
  • Demonstratable knowledge of mechanical principles and fabrication highly desirable
  • Demonstratable knowledge of electronic principles and assembly highly desirable
  • Experience with 3D printing advantageous
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and practices
  • Working knowledge of core Microsoft office packages
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the fabrication and testing of prototype or small batch products
  • Create mechanical assemblies and jigs to provided specifications
  • Create electrical assemblies and solder PCBs
    • Operate and maintain prototyping equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters
  • Support testing and experimentation activities
  • Participation in organisation of workstations, tooling & equipment
  • Maintain condition and calibration of laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes and ultrasonic measurement hardware
  • Maintain stock levels of lab consumables & participate in stock tracking tasks
  • Arrange relevant hazardous waste uplifts for the lab, and other H&S tasks where required
  • Support the upkeep of a safe and effective working environment
  • Other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities, whenever reasonably instructed
