We have an exciting opportunity for a
Communications & Events Lead to join our team and help us deliver a strategic approach to communications and stakeholder engagement.

This is a unique role that combines both events planning and digital communications as well as broader communications activity.

You will lead on the NSO's external engagement plan and be responsible for its overall delivery.

This will include overseeing the NSO's contribution the industry's largest biannual conferences - London International Shipping Week and Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) - and other maritime and Defence events throughout the year as well as those led by the NSO.

You will identify events that provide the best opportunity to communicate the NSO's key priorities and then use your communication skills to deliver engaging presentations and speeches to maximise impact with our audiences.

You will also be responsible the NSO's digital channels as another means to engage with our stakeholders.

You will deliver a drumbeat of creative, eye-catching and relevant content and you will drive engagement with comms professionals in other Government departments to align and amplify messaging to meet our communications objectives.

You will report to the Strategic Communications Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the NSO Senior Leadership Team with the strategic overview of our external engagement programme and lead on its delivery including event and speaking opportunities for Ministers and senior officials.
  • Oversee the NSO's digital channels to share the latest news and priorities and raise awareness of the NSO amongst key audiences.
  • Lead the endtoend management of all events including speechwriting and presentations, the provision of promotional materials, and attendance at events to provide support when required.
  • Represent the NSO in key crossWhitehall and external comms networks to align priorities and ensure new policies are clearly and coherently communicated.
  • Lead the creation of video and photographic content to support the communications strategy.
  • Build positive working relationships with key stakeholder cohorts including central and local government comms professionals, Parliamentarians, professional and industry bodies and businesses.
