About Ignite HubsnIgnite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old.

Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce.

We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities.

We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.


We teach over 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started.

Our educational offerings include four weekly virtual classes and five weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.


Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.


Role & ResponsibilitiesnWe are launching our Creativity Hub and seeking friendly and enthusiastic Creative Writing Instructors to join our instructor team.


We are looking to launch remote creative writing classes and in-person classes at Camberwell Library, SE London, in late September 2024.

The in-person class will be on Thursdays from 6:15 p.m.

to 7 p.m., and the remote class will be on a weekday (the day to be agreed upon) and will take place from 6 p.m.

to 7 p.m.

You can opt to teach remotely, hybrid or in-person. Please specify your preference in your application.

Classes are during term-time only.

Our terms are 8 weeks and there is a break in the middle of at least two weeks, longer for Easter and the Summer holidays.

You are required to be there around 10-15mins beforehand to help with set-up and stay on 15 to 20 mins after to help with pack-up and a quick debrief.


There may also be additional hours available to contribute to the curriculum development and content creation for the Online Learning Platform, which we are currently designing and building.


ResponsibilitiesnConduct engaging and educational creative writing sessions.nContribute to the development of the curriculum, including the sourcing of materials and equipment.

Students should have a completed piece of work by the end of the term.nIf attending onsite, prepare the classroom before the class and manage the pack-up and debriefing session afterwards.nPossibility to work additional hours by creating resources, projects and content for our Online Learning Platform.


Other Information:

nWe will carry out an Enhanced DBS check and ask for two references.nIf attending onsite, you will be reimbursed for reasonable travelling costs, and you will be paid £12 per hour for travelling time of up to an hour each way.
