The position involves working primarily on Neurosurgical research studies and assisting with the whole Neuroscience portfolio as needed.


Your qualities:

- Research experience is preferred but not mandatory

Key Responsibilities:
- Assess trial protocols and provide input on safety, regulatory, and logistical issues during trials
- Ensure accurate trial information is documented in patients' hospital records.

- Collaborate with senior research staff on research subjects, trial progress, workload matters, and personal growth.

- Resolve data clarification issues promptly

- Supervise junior team members under senior staff supervision.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, database programs, and patient administration systems.
- Utilize software for document and report development, including spreadsheets with complex formulas for external agencies when needed.

Clinical Trial Set-Up

- Evaluate trial protocols and advise on safety, regulatory, and logistical aspects of trials
- Collaborate with the R&I team on contract negotiations
- Estimate project costs to facilitate negotiations for contracts/grants
- Ensure all projects have received approval from NBT and Research Ethics Committee before commencing
- Work with the NIHR Clinical Research Network to set up trials
- Manage trial setup in coordination with colleagues across the trust

Clinical trial running

- Support Principal Investigators in meeting their research responsibilities as per guidelines
- Assist in reporting Adverse Events in compliance with NBT policy
- Identify and address any obstacles during the trial with the NIHR Clinical Research Network
- Ensure proper trial information is recorded in patients' hospital records.
- Provide recruitment/accrual data to designated personnel at NBT/NIHR Clinical Research Network
- Incorporate protocol amendments into research practices

- Oversee research-related aspects of care for study participants, ensuring their rights and well-being.

- Adhere to research guidelines, ethical principles, and protocols while following organizational policies

- Uphold patient confidentiality as per regulations.

- Develop specialized knowledge in research governance, Good Clinical Practice, and clinical trials regulations

- Collaborate with project management teams and diverse stakeholders involved in the project.

- Communicate effectively with research team leads regarding subjects, trial progress, workload, and personal development.

- Coordinate research-related care for participants across multiple studies.
- Contribute to research proposals and protocol development.

- Enhance research knowledge and clinical skills to support team requirements.

- Assist in drafting Standard Operating Procedures.

- Facilitate patients' transition from research to standard treatment pathways.

- Promptly resolve data clarification issues
- Provide supervision for junior team members on various matters under senior staff guidance, including appraisals, leaves, and competence. - Support ongoing education of research staff across the Trust through participation in NBT Research Nurse/AHP Network meetings

Shared responsibility for the maintenance and secure use of office equipment.
Education/Training/Qualifications
- Degree in nursing or a related health field

Work Experience
- Recent experience in clinical research

Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing and record-keeping
Ability to lead projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external sponsors
Proficiency in IT systems, databases, and accurate data entry
Evidence of continuous professional development
Understanding of research application in clinical settings
