Technical Officer for Private Sector Housing - 6-Month Temporary Contract - £28 per Hour - 36 Hours per Week - Hybrid / Borehamwood

Tate Recruitment is collaborating with a proactive and innovative local authority dedicated to delivering top-notch housing services to the community. They are known for their outstanding customer service and commitment to providing safe and sustainable housing solutions.

Our client is currently looking for a talented and driven Technical Housing Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. As a Technical Housing Officer, you will have a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of our housing stock. You will collaborate with fellow housing professionals to tackle technical issues, carry out inspections, and implement solutions to enhance our property standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performing regular inspections of residential properties to evaluate compliance with health and safety standards, building codes, and other relevant regulations.
  • Identifying and recording maintenance issues, safety risks, and structural flaws, and taking necessary steps to address them.
  • Coordinating with tenants, landlords, contractors, and other stakeholders to manage repairs, renovations, and upkeep.
  • Offering technical advice and support to colleagues and external partners on housing-related issues.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, reports, and databases related to property inspections, maintenance tasks, and compliance evaluations.
  • Contributing to the formulation and execution of policies, procedures, and projects aimed at enhancing housing standards and tenant contentment.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar position within the housing sector, preferably in a local authority or housing association setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of housing laws, health and safety regulations, and building standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical issues effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with excellent multitasking capabilities.
  • Proficient in computer operations, including Microsoft Office and housing management software.
