An exciting and diverse opportunity has arisen to carry out the role of Business Management Support Clerk, providing a supporting role to the Business Management Team at RAF Leeming.


The Business Management Team is a fast-paced challenging environment that would ideally suit someone who is self-motivated, structured and adaptable in their approach as priorities can change quickly, the team are responsible for providing timely, accurate and efficient support to RAF Leeming personnel on all aspects of governance and assurance, as well as support to both civilian and military line managers with HR queries.

As the post holder, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Station and the wider Air Community.

You will be responsible for a range of administrative duties such as assurance checks on all travel by civilian and service personnel, travel and subsistence claims, overtime claims, miscellaneous personnel payments.

You will also act as a point of contact for the Civil Service Thank You Scheme and provide guidance for official hospitality.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

  • You are to audit Travel and Subsistence (T&S) claims, overtime claims and miscellaneous personnel payments in line with policy as directed by the Deputy Business Manager on a monthly basis, advise claimants of any errors, policy and repayments and inform the Deputy Business Manager of any anomalies. You are to produce and distribute letters to Line Managers of Civil Servants called for audit. You are to carry out a 5% monthly audit of the Defence Travel Management Information Return (DTMI) for all T&S against BLB 399
  • You are to undertake checks of online Goods &Services (G&S) ePC expenditure held by the ePC Manager, OC Accounts on a monthly basis. As an ePC checker you are to audit ePC holders' line with policy and as directed by the Business Manager. You are to advise holders of any errors and policy and hasten any outstanding paperwork not uploaded onto the database, Inform the Business Manager of any anomalies.
  • You are to create and maintain Unit Commodity Manager records. Raise Letters of Authority and maintain a register to ensure continuity as personnel are posted in/out.
  • You are to check the Business and Finance Instructions held of the Air Command SharePoint site on a weekly basis and provide feedback to the Business Manager if an action is required.
  • Responsible for the daytoday management of the Civil Service Thank You Scheme, hold an ePC to purchase vouchers awarded under the Scheme, reconcile associated paperwork and upload onto central site on a monthly basis for audit.
  • Act as Engagement Champion. Organise and promote engagement opportunities attend monthly Engagement Champion meetings, cascade information to the Station Community
  • Scrutinise monthly MyHR reports and annotate statistics onto the BM Dashboard.
  • Official Hospitality provide advice and guidance to project officer in raising 1199 and 1199a, collate paperwork for BM/DBM for financial authority. Keep register of all OH and copies of paperwork on file.
  • Act with a high level of discretion, practise confidentiality at all times, fulfilling the MOD requirements in regard to data protection, FOI and security protection.
  • Deputise for the Business Manager in periods of absence.
