A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Specialist ARFID Dietitian to work across our Mental Health services in Lincolnshire.

We're looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with good leadership skills to provide specialist Dietetic support across a range of services within LPFT.

The post holder will be professionally accountable for their own complex caseload and also responsible for overseeing an effective, high quality specialist Dietetic service across the Trust.

Regular line management and clinical supervision will be offered.

Main duties of the job The post holder will provide dietetic expertise and will be an integral participant in the ARFID Service development project.

The first year will involve supporting the strategic development of the service including to co-create and deliver ARFID training packages.

Offer support to patients, carers and staff within LPFT CAMHS services.

Support future development and expansion of the service

Clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients - to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

Undertake comprehensive specialist assessment, treatment and discharge of patients including those with diverse and complex presentations.

Engage patients in treatment planning decisions, in line with their individual goals.

Write clear plans of care for both the patients, carers and multi-disciplinary teams to follow.

Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required, using standardised outcome measures. Encourage and support staff in the use of appropriate outcome measures.

Provide specialist advice, teaching, training and instruction to patients, relatives, carers and professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of treatment, and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.

Promote integrated working and contribute to the delivery of holistic care by actively participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

To provide management and clinical supervision for junior dietetic staff. To provide therapeutic care and health promotional /educational activities across the county within LPFT CAMHS Services.

To act as a source of specialist clinical advice and guidance for patients, families, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.

To provide a Specialist Dietetic perspective in complex multidisciplinary assessments and treatment programmes.

To hold and manage an ARFID Dietetic caseload.

To inform the diagnosis of patients as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

To be responsible for devising the nutritional treatment plans of patients on caseload.

To be involved in legal decisions relating to mental capacity linked to the implementation of dietary recommendations.

To inform decision making and planning around Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. To be involved in decision making around child protection safeguarding.

To effectively influence and contribute to service development.

To communicate complex condition related information from assessment to patients, other healthcare professionals, carers and families, within the bounds of confidentiality, agreeing decision making relevant to the patient management.

Provide highly specialist advice to senior colleagues and other health professionals, both internal and external to the Trust. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • Specialist dietetic training at diploma level or equivalent
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD
  • Specialist dietetic training at Masters or post graduate diploma level
  • Willingness to undertake specific training as required to meet the needs for working with specific learning disability conditions.
Desirable
  • Highly specialised knowledge and/or training in appropriate field
  • Relevant post graduate experience in CAMHS, Eating Disorders or paediatrics
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working with young people to manage/ treat eating disorder or highly selective eating.
  • Significant experience in applying therapeutic process to include assessment, interpretation, individual care planning, motivation, monitoring and evaluation of highly specialised treatment
  • Experience of working in an MDT and ability to discuss management plans and their implications with the MDT
  • Experience in clinical and managerial supervision and support of staff
Desirable
  • Experience of working with service users with specific learning disabilities.
  • Experience of leading clinical governance and research activities including clinical audit
Skills Essential
  • Literate in IT/Computer Skills
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team recognising own and other limitations
  • Manage own caseload, prioritise and delegate effectively
  • Ability to problem solve and to demonstrate clinical reasoning based on experience and knowledge
  • Provide effective teaching, training and clinical supervision

  • Willing to gain the knowledge and skills to identify the barriers and adjustments that need to be made to enable people with learning disabilities to access services.
