Physiotherapy Assistant in Community Neuro Outreach

Lincoln, United Kingdom United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Community Neuro-rehabilitation Outreach team, based at Lincoln County Hospital

The Community Neuro-rehabilitation Outreach team provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated rehabilitation service to people across Lincolnshire with a long term neurological condition or following multiple trauma who have complex rehabilitation needs. The team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists and a dietitian and has close links with the Rehabilitation Medicine consultants, Ashby Ward and the wider health and social care system across Lincolnshire. The service covers the whole of Lincolnshire with staff based at 4 sites: Louth, Boston, Lincoln and Grantham.

We are looking for a physiotherapy assistant with recent experience of working within rehabilitation in the acute or community setting to support the physiotherapist in the team. Prior experience of working independently in the community and working with people with neurological / long term conditions would be desirable. Training and support will be given to develop the specific competencies required for this role: the department is committed to staff development through in-service training and a competency based assessment programme.

You will be expected to liaise closely with senior physiotherapist colleagues in OT and the specialist nurse in order to provide a seamless service.

The successful applicant will carry out rehabilitation programmes directed by the Physiotherapist.

You will be working largely in patients own homes within a defined catchment area, and the nature of the role will include a large element of lone working. An ability to be able to fulfil the travel requirements of this post will be essential.

It is essential that applicants have a means of transport, as the successful applicant will be required to undertake home visits independently.

The department is committed to staff development through in-service training and a competency based assessment programme.

Our Trust is situated in the beautiful county of Lincolnshire and is one of the biggest acute hospital trusts in England, serving a population of more than 700,000 people. Our Board have recently agreed a new vision statement - “Outstanding Care Personally Delivered” - stating their ambition for our Trust to be among the best.

We also have a five year Integrated Improvement Plan setting out how we will achieve our strategic objectives, for patients, services, people and partners, the last recognising that our future success depends on our ability to ensure the Lincolnshire healthcare system is successful in achieving its ambition to help people live healthier lives and provide care closer to where people live.

Our latest CQC report increased our ratings for being effective and well-led from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’. Our rating for caring remained as ‘Good’.

This is in recognition of the huge amount of work that our amazing staff have done to improve the quality of care for our patients in recent years.
