Focused on delivering a specialized technical service, the role involves developing up-to-date knowledge to achieve objectives for activities in the Radio-mineralogy Laboratories, MATES, and Petrology research groups. The technician plays a key role in the newly refurbished Radio-mineralogy Laboratory and offers support to MATES and Petrology laboratories in the School of Earth Sciences as needed. Responsibilities include lab management, radiological safety support, and supporting research with various techniques for mineral and glass synthesis, mineral leaching, and analytical methods for solid-state and aqueous phase characterization.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide specialist support for complex activities within laboratories
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to plan research experiments
- Maintain accurate records and monitor quality of output
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate specialized equipment
- Diagnose and solve complex problems
- Manage lab materials and inputs for purchases
- Write risk assessments and SOPs
- Train others in specialist techniques
- Offer solutions independently
- Adapt based on service needs
You Should Apply If:
