Are you an organised, proactive individual with demonstrable administrative experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Education Team in the Department of Surgery & Cancer.

This key role supports the end-to-end postgraduate journey from admissions to graduation.

You will join a busy central team which supports over 900 undergraduate, MSc and PhD students across 5 campuses.

You will have particular responsibility to manage postgraduate admissions for our PhD students and applicants to our 7 main MRes/MSc programmes.

This will involve extensive collaboration with both academic and administrative staff in the dept, Faculty and Central College Registry teams.

In addition, you will support the Senior Postgraduate Education Administrator (Research) to engage and monitor PhD student progression and improve the student experience.


Duties and responsibilities:

You will join a busy central team which supports over 900 undergraduate, MSc and PhD students across 5 campuses.

The post would suit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated administrator seeking to further their career in this stimulating role in higher education.

The ability to work independently, managing a busy workload with competing priorities to tight deadlines is essential, as is attention to detail and accuracy.

The post holder must have a highly professional approach to their work and possess excellent organisational and communication skills.


The Postgraduate Education Administrator will be located at the South Kensington Campus, but may be required to work on other campuses on occasions.


Essential requirements:

  • The role requires proactive and independent working practices to establish effective working relationships with colleagues in the department as well as networking across College.
  • Strong operational knowledge of some areas relating to this role.
  • High level of expertise in using MS Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Outlook and Word).
  • Capacity to navigate difficult situations and conflicting views with tact and diplomacy, while having patience to complete tasks thoroughly and achieve necessary outcomes.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a larger team in a large and complex organisation, working collaboratively with colleagues, displaying a professional attitude at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Further information:

This is a full-time, open-ended post and you will be based at South Kensington Campus. We are looking for someone that can start as soon as possible.

  • The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.
