Specific Skills and Abilities

  • A creative, hardworking, lateral thinker
  • Excellent personal organisational skills
- at least 5 GCSE qualifications at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics

  • Experience of working in a school environment and/or with young people
  • The ability to motivate students and a desire to make a positive contribution to their education
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour in line with the school policy
  • The ability to build positive relationships with all young people and their families

Job description
Duties for this job will include (but are not limited to):

  • To support the Heads of Year in taking responsibility for the pastoral welfare of the students in Year
  • To guide and support students to safely and successfully manage face to face and on line relationships with peers
  • To be proactive in the implementation of the antibullying policy in conjunction with the Executive Team;
  • Be available to counsel and support individuals and groups of students;
- to act as a link person between home and school;

  • To help to organise and administer appropriate rewards and sanctions
  • Work with the Landau Forte Parliament and encourage student participation
  • To liaise and seek involvement as appropriate from parents / carers, teachers, Student support Team and external agencies in relation to the welfare of individual students
  • Contribute as required to parents' evenings, staff meetings, gatherings, celebration evenings and other activities as associated with particular Year 7 groups
  • Review student behaviour by analysing monitoring data
  • Where necessary provide support for teaching staff on behavioural issues
  • Monitor student attendance, punctuality, positive and negative behaviour in line with the school's policies and ensure that appropriate action is taken when required.
  • Promote the aims of the school and support the school ethos
  • Lead by example, setting high expectations for all
  • Create a positive climate where students aspire to be the best that they can be and believe in themselves
  • Work alongside members of the leadership team and the Student Support Team to ensure the delivery and ongoing development of the pastoral system.
  • To monitor students on the school site during lunchtime.
  • Monitoring of students after school as required, supporting with catch ups and extracurricular activities.
  • To be familiar and comply with all relevant Health and Safety, Management of Risk, Operational, Personal, Data Protection and Financial Regulations policies and procedures.
  • To ensure the duties and responsibilities are carried out in a safe manner and safe working practices are adopted, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, 197
  • To ensure equality of opportunity is afforded to all persons both internal and external to the school, actively seeking to eliminate any direct or indirect discriminatory practices/behaviour
  • To understand and comply with procedures for the emergency evacuation of the school.
  • To work in a flexible manner undertaking any reasonable duties commensurate within the range and grade of the post, or indeed lesser duties as directed and whether detailed within this profile or not, but as required by the Academy to enable students to achieve.
  • To carry out other duties and responsibilities requested
