THE ROLE:
Job Introduction:

We have a vacancy for a
Publicist within the communications team, working on drama.

This is a fantastic role for a creative and enthusiastic comms professional with a passion for TV.

The BBC commissions more drama than anyone else in the UK and has the widest remit within British drama broadcasting.


You'll be working in the communications team that oversees press and publicity for world-class content including state of the nation dramas Dear England and The Ministry of Time; literary adaptations Wolf Hall, Agatha Christie's Towards Zero, Lord of the Flies and Mr Loverman; crime dramas Virdee and The Jetty; factual dramas The Sixth Commandment, Lockerbie, Kidnapped and The Gold; and character-led series such as Happy Valley, SAS Rogue Heroes, Riot Women and Boarders.


Main Responsibilities:


In this role you will provide a range of internal and external stakeholders with an authoritative source of advice on all aspects of press and publicity, to agreed standards of quality and cost, helping to create impactful 360-degree communications campaigns for proactively promoted programmes through their full public service lifecycle.


You will take full responsibility for the management of the campaigns, only referring up to provide information or when the issue is felt to have impact on the wider BBC.


Your key focus will be to constantly seek innovative ways to increase favourable media coverage and raise the profile of specific BBC Drama titles in accordance with the priority-based marcomms strategy.


You will stimulate public interest in your drama titles by devising imaginative and innovative campaigns, specifically tailored to the individual programme and audience.

This will include writing clear concise copy, providing detailed information and comment on programmes, and acting as spokesperson to respond on behalf of your specialist area and on behalf of the BBC in general.


You will have excellent news sense with the ability to write crisp, clear and lively press copy, which stimulates both press and public interest.

With a proven creativity and the ability to think 'outside the box', together with a hunger to constantly try new ideas and approaches.


You will have advanced computer skills, with the ability to adapt to new IT systems quickly and the willingness to play an active role in helping achieve the strategic aims of the division.

Salary:
£32,000 to £40,000pa (
inclusive of London Weighting £5,164), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
