This is a full time post at 10 PA with 8.5PAs for direct clinical care and 1.5PAs for SPA in support of personal CPD, preparation for GMC appraisal and revalidation.

(Specialist skills required include advanced training in perioperative medicine, trauma and regional anaesthesia. A proportion of the workload(flexible annualised sessions)has to be delivered at prime-time hours, at weekends and/or in the evenings.

The workload during general on-calls does not ordinarily include obstetrics, paeds, ITU, major trauma, neuro, cardiac, which are all covered by separate consultant rotas.

However, at times when workload exceeds manpower, you may be asked to help consultant colleagues on different rotas (example major trauma, obstetrics).We are a friendly, approachable, dynamic and diverse group, who are enthusiastic in both teaching colleagues and learning new skills from colleagues.

There is emphasis in wellbeing and supporting each other.

Given the huge expertise in the department, it is easy to seek advice and discuss with an expert in a certain field or acquire new skills.

This isa great opportunity department, which is a highlydiverse and inclusive work force of over 100Anaesthetic Consultants providing expertise in a wide variety of anaesthetic subspecialties includingPaediatrics, Neurosurgery, Cardio-thoracics, Intensive Care, Acute andChronicPainreliefand academic positions in SGUL.There are over 60 trainees fromSt George's School of Anaesthesia and clinical fellows who rotate through the anaesthesia subspecialties.

Our main site, St George's Hospital in Tooting - one of the country's principal teaching hospitals - is shared with St George's, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research.

St George's Hospital also hosts the St George's, University of London (SGUL) and Kingston University Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, which is responsible for training a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the region.

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 1.A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.A number of our services are members of established clinical networks which bring together doctors, nurses and other clinicians from a range of healthcare providers working to improve the quality of services for patients.

These include the South London Cardiac and Stroke Network and the South West London and Surrey Trauma Network, for which St George's Hospital is the designated heart attack centre, hyper-acute stroke unit and major trauma centre.

The successful applicant will need commitment, enthusiasm, leadership qualities and the ability to work as part of a large multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be expected the trusts agreed policies and procedures drawn up with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust.

Holder of Certificate of completion of training (CCT) training in Anaesthesia or equivalent
Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with licence to practice
MSc, PhD or similar, echocardiography skills

Presentations at departmental/ hospital level / Grand Rounds or similar
Research experience example Local Investigator etc
Major Trauma and orthopaedics
Perioperative Medicine skills (for PACU, high risk clinics or similar)
Evidence to show teaching junior anaesthetic colleagues
Evidence to show teaching Consultant colleagues (example anaesthetic and surgical)
Evidence to show teaching nursing staff/ODP's / multi-disciplinary
Evidence to show teaching medical students
Awards or prizes for presentations delivered or other aspects of medical career
Post-graduate teaching qualification, Trainer

Resus certification:
current adult resus (ALS or similar, but not iLS)
