About the role
Our finances and other strategic assets are key to the sustainability and growth of the charity.

The Strategic Finance and Assets Committee will be responsible for providing oversight of the charity's long term financial plan and for reviewing, and advising the Board of Trustees on, certain associated risks.


The committee will also be responsible for providing advice on the development and iteration of a financial and strategic assets long term strategy and work alongside the charity's existing Audit and Risk Committee and Investment Committee that will continue to have responsibility for matters falling within their remits.


What you'll bring
To complement our collective skillset we are looking to appoint an Independent Committee Member with extensive strategic experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Private equity / venture capital investments in the life sciences field, preferably in early clinical biotech start ups, including experience of structuring investments
  • Experience of strategic financial management
  • Knowledge of valuation methodologies and performance measurement
  • Put people affected by Parkinson's at the core of the work of the Strategic Finance and Assets Committee
  • Be able to analyse complex information to provide oversight of our finances and key assets
  • Have strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities and the ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team
  • Be committed to the seven Nolan Principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership
  • Have experience using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively or willingness to learn this

Additional Information:

The role will involve the equivalent of 2 days per year.

Twice yearly 2 hour meetings of the committee, in addition to time involved to read papers beforehand and travel to meetings in London.

During your first six months we will also arrange appropriate induction activities to fit around your availability.
