Overview:


As Speedel's Transport Operations Manager, you'll be a key player in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across our network.


This is a highly hands-on role, and you'll be expected to lead a dedicated team, overseeing all aspects of our transport operations while fostering a culture of safety, high performance, and continuous improvement.


Duties:


Lead, coach, and develop the team to achieve operational excellencenPlan, manage, and adjust staffing levels to meet targets and service level agreements (SLAs) for our clients.nOversee the daily throughput of customer orders, ensuring on-time and high-quality deliveriesnProcess, monitor, and update bookings received via Speedel's internal system, telephone and email through to completion.nCultivate strong client relationships, exceeding expectations for service and communication with Speedel's clientele.nDrive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives to optimise profitabilitynGuarantee adherence to Speedel's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, and all relevant safety regulations.nManage disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with Speedel's HR policies, fostering a positive and secure work environment.nConduct performance reviews, implement development plans for your team, and plan for team succession within Speedel's operations.nCompile operational data and generate reports to track performancenTake ownership and lead the team in achieving operational standards while meeting customer requirementsnManage daily communication and build strong relationships with Speedel's diverse customer base.

nSupport the sales manager to build a quality pipeline for new business opportunities

Requirements:


Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a transport operations management role, ideally within a global logistics environment.nProven track record of leading and motivating teams to achieve results in a fast-paced logistics setting.nStrong people management skills to deal with the range of day-to-day employee issues, as well as coach and facilitate the on-going development of employees.nCustomer-centric approach with evidence of a strong customer service ethic and proven ability to drive improved customer focus through teams.nThe ability to manage budgets effectively and run a commercially profitable operationnExcellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressurenAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and be fully flexible to support Speedel's operations during unsociable hours, weekends, and as required.nA "get the job done" attitude and a strong motivation to overcome challenges.nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transport management software (a plus).nA strong commitment to safety, compliance, and upholding Speedel's high standards.
