Tayside Psychological Therapies Service is looking to appoint a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist post for our Neuropsychology specialty. Applicants should be committed to delivering high quality psychological services. Applicants should share the values of NHS Tayside.

The post holder will undertake a range of duties to assist the safe and effective delivery of patient care, including audit & research and providing direct patient work under the close supervision of qualified Psychologists. The post holder will be working with people with acquired brain injury / neurological conditions and who may present challenges with communication and behaviour. Post holders may assist in the preparation and delivery of teaching and training and undertake work which helps qualified staff plan new, or redesign existing, services. The post-holder will work with individuals and groups across both inpatient and outpatient settings. The post requires the ability to take a role in assessment and delivery of psychological interventions within the context of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. The post-holder will have regular access to clinical supervision and peer support.

Applicants must have completed an under-graduate Psychology Honours Degree with the major subject being Psychology with a minimum of a 2:1 grade achieved. The post-holder must be eligible for graduate basis registration with the British Psychological Society.

Tayside Psychological Therapies service is a large service which is benefitting from investment and expansion. There is a well established training culture and Assistant Psychologists openly welcomed as the next generation of qualified staff.

Hours of work are: 37 hours per week

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
