Salary:
Circa £35,000 pro-rated+ bonus and benefits

Hybrid working pattern:
Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working
- ideally 1-2 days on site, dependent on hours worked

Part-time Working Hours:Hours are c.22.2 hours per week, and we can be flexible around how this is worked (3 full days or school hours for example)

The Opportunity:
MBDA UK is looking to recruit an assistant accountant, on a part time basis, within its Engineering directorate.

This is a business critical role to enable UK Finance to support MBDA UK and operate effectively by providing timely support and informationto influence decisions.

You will have an accounting background and familiarity with accruals, prepayments and recovery models (desirable, but not essential).

The role provides excellent exposure to a large, multi-discipline area of the business and enables us to deliver on ourpromises.


Working with the Management Accountant for Engineering, you will ensure a high level of service and accuracy, seeking to operate with relevant business teams for our diverse mission areas.

You will be confident in approaching stakeholders at all levels todebate relevant finance topics.

What we're looking for:

  • Accounting Qualification: AAT L4 or equivalent
  • Experience of management accounts:
  • Ability to create and post journals independently
  • Month end close procedures and reporting
  • Support to audit queries
  • Support with inyear planning cycles
  • Confidence in presenting and discussing figures with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Comfortable with interrogation of large datasets; primarily within MS Excel
  • Experience of SAP would be an advantage
  • Holder of, or able to achieve, SC Level clearance

The Role You will be responsible for:

  • Identify expenditure levels for budgeted items and accrue accordingly;
  • Reconciliation of external labour supplier invoices to time worked; with accurate postings to relevant contracts
  • Ensure capture of high value recurring expenditure items and assess whether they are Capital expenditure or Operating expenditure and are planned for future years;
  • Set up foreign exchange currency hedging for purchases that meet materiality thresholds;
  • Resolving queries around timesheet booking codes and management of missing timesheets;
  • Utilising experience and knowledge to improve existing tools and ways of working;
  • Working with division heads to ensure cost control and financial policy is followed through judgement and pragmatism;
  • Resolution of any ad hoc reporting queries
  • Supporting international mobility administration and recharging between MBDA group companies
