Simpsons Malt is one of the UK's biggest malting companies with 150+ years of successful supply to brewers and distillers with a customer range from the smallest craft and microbrewers to multi-nationals in the UK and around the world, and we are now proudly B-Corp accredited.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Simpsons Malt for an Environmental Advisor based at Tweed Valley Maltings.

This is a full-time, permanent role, primarily working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to
5.00pm, however a degree of flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business.

The main purpose of the role is to provide environmental support and assistance to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as business champion and source of expertise and competent advice for Environmental areas.
  • Develop and manage the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 and provide advice and guidance to the business on its implementation.
  • Develop and manage the Energy Management System in line with ISO 50001 and provide advice and guidance to the business on its implementation.
  • Manage environmental permitting and submission of regulatory reports to satisfy permits.
  • Manage/coordinate/assist in environmental investigations, ensuring incidents are reported promptly and accurately.
  • Organise and coordinate environmental related training for relevant teams within the business.
  • Promote, develop and work towards an inclusive environmental management culture using a continuous improvement approach.
  • Deliver internal training, toolbox talks and briefings as required.
  • Contribute to the development of the Internal Audit programme and perform audits as necessary.
  • Enable delivery of collective ambition goals and objectives and deliver on own personal and departmental objectives.
  • Contribute to delivering innovative and novel solutions/approaches for achieving goals and objectives.
