Job summary

Following a recent organisational change, we have an exciting opportunity to apply for a Band 7 Adult Nurse Practitioner role within the newly formed DART team.

DART will provide high quality, nursing care and support to patients across the organisation who are acutely unwell and/or deteriorating, ensuring patients are receiving the right care, at the right time in the right place. DART will be responsible for reviewing all patients discharged from Critical Care and all patients with a NEWS2 Score > > 3. The Service will also be responsible for helping implement Cause for Concern within the organisation and examining the Trusts Sepsis management.

This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service, that will help shape how we care for our most vulnerable and clinically unwell patients within Gateshead. As a new service, the team will be constantly evolving so we're looking for dynamic candidates with an appetite and enthusiasm for change and service improvement.

The service is a 24 hour, 7-day week service, therefore candidates should be aware they will be required to work shifts on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

This role will be central in providing support to all ward-based teams in the recognition and management of acutely unwell patients by generating a supportive and educational environment throughout the organisation, therefore a desire to teach is essential.

Job responsibilities

The DART service is central to the efficient and effective running of the organisation, therefore leadership, communication and multi-disciplinary working skills are a must.

Whilst you will work as part of a team, as a Nurse Practitioner, you will be a skilled independent practitioner, required to make autonomous, clinically led decisions. You will use your advanced communication skills on a daily basis.

As a senior position, this role will require extensive experience and excellent clinical and managerial leadership. There are occasions whereby, the post holder may be required to act as Senior Nurse for the organisation, in the absence of the Clinical Site Lead.
