We are adding an Apprentice Audiologist to our established team of Audiologists. During this level 6 apprenticeship you will work towards becoming an autonomous practitioner providing hearing care to patients attending Audiology clinics at Gateshead Health NHSFT. The apprenticeship will include attendance at Sunderland University where you will work towards the Healthcare Science Practice Audiology B.Sc. (Hons) alongside practical training that will be delivered by our team of Audiologists in the workplace. To access this apprenticeship, candidates must have 112 UCAS points from at least 2 A Level which must include Biology or Chemistry and at least 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (numerical value 4-9) which must include English and Maths.

Main duties of the job
  • Attend University and participate in all required activities as you work towards your Healthcare Science Practice Audiology B.Sc. (Hons)
  • Participate in workplace training progressing from novice to practitioner over the three year apprenticeship.
  • Participate in the provision of hearing care to patients attending the department within your capabilities. The complexity of this patient care and degree of autonomy will increase as you progress through the apprenticeship, working toward the practitioner duties listed below:
    • Participate in the daily function of the Audiology service
    • Work autonomously to deliver a range of diagnostic and rehabilitative care packages for adult patients and contribute to the daily running of the department.
    • You will be expected to implement changes within the department and within your own role as an audiologist.
    • You will be expected to provide appropriate help to patients, other audiologists, nursing and medical staff and any other hospital staff relating to audiological care of patients.
    • You will provide where appropriate training and supervision to trainee audiologists as and when required.
    • You will be required to participate in 7 day working.

Person Specification Skills
