CER is looking for a Classroom Support Assistant to work in an SEN school in Durham.
A successful candidate will have worked as a teaching assistant in a school before, or have relevant SEN experience in either healthcare or another sector, which they can transfer over to an education setting.
The school, based in Durham, is a specialist provision for autistic children and young people. They cater for children and young people aged 3 -19 years with a range of abilities and differences associated with the autism spectrum.
The school are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and resourceful individuals to join a dedicated and hardworking team of specialised support staff. They are looking for people who will enjoy being effective in supporting students with complex needs and who have an appreciation of the positive attitude required to encourage independence in their students.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be able to engage with children and enforce positive behaviour
- Have worked with children or adults with special needs before
- Be able to challenge children when they display negative behaviour
- Be a qualified teaching assistant or have a transferable skill
