What you will be responsible for:

  • To manage a caseload of clients first episode psychosis with complex needs, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To provide a professional contribution, supervision and advice to a multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, effective and highquality mental health services with meet existing new policies, practice and standards.
  • To act as care coordinator under the CPA process as appropriate
  • To provide leadership for students and / or junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of MDT services, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To regularly supervise students on practice placements
  • To carry out MDT activities e.g. generic assessments and duty responsibilities
  • To provide profession specific Assessments and Interventions for the wider team as required
  • To provide assessment of service users, analyse and interpret information gained to form an accurate formulation of function, strengths, capabilities and occupational needs.
  • To work collaboratively with service users, staff, and carers to identify goals to determine and deliver an appropriate intervention/recovery plan which maximises engagement and performance whilst balancing risk, and promoting choice and independence
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify therapeutic interventions in order to measure progress and increase efficacy for the best possible service user outcomes and experience.
  • To act as an experienced clinician supporting best practice in line with NICE guidance and professional standards.
  • To actively participate in relevant clinical meetings/forums.
  • To ensure effective communication and relationships providing and receiving complex sensitive information and managing barriers to understanding.
  • The post holder will have continuous responsibility for coordinating the care of an identified group of service uses on CPA, within an integrated community mental health team.
  • The post holder will be expected to deliver a range of evidencebased interventions which will promote recovery, social inclusion and normalization for this group of service users, who suffer from severe and enduring mental health problems.
  • The post holder will work in partnership with the MDT, CRHT and Acute Inpatients Services, other community teams, Primary Care and the Children and Young Persons Service to provide support and treatment to service users within crisis to facilitate the safe management of their needs within a community setting.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You'll have the following qualification/experience:

Training, Qualifications and Registration:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Occupational Therapist or CQSW
  • Up to date registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • To hold appropriate practice assessor/educator qualification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years post registration experience Significant experience of working with service users with psychosis when acutely ill.
