JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for managing fleet performance, o-license compliance, maintenance planning and relationships with main dealers / service providers. Collaborate with the wider PAL business unit in creating a 'best in class' approach to Fleet operations, fulfilment, compliance, and co-ordination of the GRS Group service demands, enabling the delivery of contracted service obligations and legal standards. Support a continuous focus on improving asset life, availability, and sustainability.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the NFM and manage, adherence to all compliance and legal obligations in respect of Fleet, with a strong focus on safety.
  • Plan & manage a standardised approach to Fleet & Plant maintenance, both proactive and reactive, as well as meeting all compliance related tests and inspections.
  • Book all planned maintenance with internal workshops and external 3rd parties informing ATMs and operations in advance, taking the opportunity to combine items on inspections to reduce VOR times between inspections.
  • Ensure the execution of the fleet maintenance plan, delivers maximum fleet availability, well controlled R&M costs and extends asset life - fully utilising in-house resource where possible.
  • Manage Internal workshop staff - timesheets, holidays, sickness, time keeping and recruitment.
  • Manage dealer relationships and leverage group buying power.
  • Ensure all procedures and processes are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment.
  • Undertake H&S audits within fleet and carry out TBT's in line with H+S guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the TMS systems are utilised fully and updated with all required documentation.
  • Manage field and facility-based maintenance engineers, to ensure work is well planned and aligned to immediate and long-term needs.
  • Internal workshop ordering and stock fast moving parts required, including management of order numbers with suppliers and non R&M 3rd parties suppliers.
  • Address all drivers' defects in a timely manner reducing VOR to minimum.
  • Insure all "Hired "in vehicles are compliant .
  • Use fleet performance related data to report on KPI's for the Group fleet, as well as establishing corrective actions to improve performance against KPIs.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • National CPC (or working towards obtaining).
  • NEBOSH Certificate (Desirable).
  • Minimum 5+years managing road transport fleet maintenance.
  • CI & Experience with TPM and 5S (desirable).
  • Excellent organisational and communications skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment.
  • Understanding of, and experience of working to clearly defined KPIs.
  • Microsoft word and excel user.
  • HGV licence preferred.
  • Financial understanding of budgets and Capex requirements.
  • The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, work well with others.
