Education Mental Health Practitioners

St Austell, Cornwall, United Kingdom Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Cornwall is an NHS service which works within school settings to provide early intervention for primary school children who are experiencing difficulties such as low mood and anxiety.

We also support education staff in implementing strategies across the whole school to try to ensure that children's wellbeing is supported and promoted throughout school life.

We are looking to expand and reinforce our existing dedicated and skilled teams with practitioners who have already completed their training as Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's), Children Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP's) or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners(PWP's).

Vacancies are available within teams across both west & mid Cornwall. In the west two positions are in the Penwith area. In the Mid of Cornwall we have a vacancy in the Restormel region.

Our service offer combines direct intervention using LICBT with a strong commitment to supporting schools to implement the Whole School Approach.

As we increase our number of qualified practitioners we continue to invest in our staff and our service with a clear ongoing commitment to supporting the EMHP role though regular CPD and well established supervisory structures

Proposed interview date:

TBC

The MHSTs partner with their education settings to design a bespoke offer, based on the school's individual needs and will work with the mental health services that are already in place, such as counselling, educational psychology, school nurses, pastoral care, educational welfare officers, Voluntary Services the local authority, including children's social care, and 'core' CAMHS services.

In Cornwall this partnership has led to a decision for the MHST to focus its input on Primary Schools.

You will have successfully completed training as a trainee EMHP.

You will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities to work as a qualified EMHP, as an autonomous and responsible practitioner within your scope of practice, alongside education and health colleagues.

You will be confident in providing Guided Self Help to young people and families in anxiety, low mood and challenging behaviours.

You will be flexible and creative in responding to the needs of the school populations, with excellent support from your team and supervision.

Our practitioners play a key role as members of the Mental Health Support Team, who will have the responsibility for delivering schools' whole school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and young people
