Purpose of role:

Sun Sport is looking for a passionate assistant news editor to help drive creative and accurate content.

Key accountabilities:

  • Commission wellwritten and absorbing sports stories.
  • Ensuring copy is clean, clear, accurate and informative.
  • Generating ideas for illuminating stories and imaginative features.
  • Communicating with the sports reporters, social team, video desk, picture desk and graphics team.
  • Ensuring accuracy and precision in copy while maintaining The Sun's unique voice.
  • Be able to write match reports and features when required.

  • Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard
  • Taking initiative and willingness to adapt
  • Positive attitude and good team player
  • Takes initiative in order to achieve desired results
  • Selfstarter, organised and a good problemsolver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the The Sun brand, both print and digital
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, often late, across seven days
