Your Role:
We are seeking an Executive News Editor to contribute to our reputable news operation. This is a unique chance to join The Sun's dynamic news desk.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the news desk, overseeing conferences and curating a high-quality news list
  • Enhance The Sun Online's off-diary activities and elevate the standard and quantity of original content
  • Supervise field reporters chasing the day's top stories and developing leads into finished pieces
  • Collaborate with agencies and freelancers to maintain a competitive edge in coverage
  • Train and mentor young reporters to maximize their potential
  • Lead the news team when necessary, including evenings and weekends

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in managing day-to-day news operations and leading conferences
  • Proven ability to compile news lists and oversee major news events
  • Capability to deliver high-quality exclusive stories
  • Strong background in overseeing news operations and managing reporter HR matters
  • Extensive network of contacts with agencies and freelancers nationally and internationally
  • Familiarity with The Sun's brand across print and digital platforms
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends
