ICF is currently accepting applications for internships and professional placements in its Data Science Team. These positions offer:

  • Paid opportunities
  • Duration of six to nine months (based on individual circumstances)
  • Full-time or part-time options available (with a minimum of 60% full-time equivalent commitment per week)

Interns/placement students are being onboarded at various times throughout the year. Applications are encouraged from candidates seeking an internship post MSc, as well as those seeking a placement within their MSc program.

Previous interns have had the chance to secure permanent roles at ICF following successful internship experiences.

ICF focuses on addressing the significant challenges of today by assisting governments in developing, evaluating, and implementing policies and programs covering diverse topics like migration, security, technology, health, food, and the environment.

The Data Science Team collaborates with experts across the organization to apply data science methodologies in creating cutting-edge solutions for ICF clients in the UK and EU. Their work specifically emphasizes leveraging data science in public policy research and analysis.

As an intern, you will contribute to facilitating the utilization of data science tools and techniques, supporting colleagues. You will engage in projects for various clients, utilizing data science approaches to develop models, analyze data, and produce visualizations.

This role provides practical experience in a project-driven, business environment, allowing you to apply your data science expertise to client projects. Your assigned supervisor will offer personal development opportunities to boost your marketability. You will collaborate within project teams to tackle real-world challenges.

ICF offers a flexible hybrid model, enabling you to blend remote work with access to our UK offices located in London, Plymouth, Leeds, and Birmingham.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Academic background in social science, statistics, computer science, or mathematics
  • Proficiency in R or Python (Python proficiency preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Willingness to learn and explore new data science techniques and tools
  • Excellent team collaboration abilities
  • Self-driven with the capacity to juggle multiple tasks, work efficiently, and meet deadlines
  • Solid written and verbal communication aptitude
