Mental Health Smoking Cessation Trainer

Due to COVID-19 a flexible approach to training may need to be adopted and use of other platforms for delivery of training may be required

  • Design and deliver smoking cessation training to inpatient and community mental health teams using a Train the Trainer approach
  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring adequate training and support for the workforce and raise the profile and knowledge of smoking cessation
  • Provide support to staff providing smoking cessation support to patients as well as provide one to one additional patient support where required
  • Deliver training that will meet at least the minimum standard described by the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training ( NCSCT ) and to include Very brief advice (VBA) on smoking
  • Deliver training at Trust induction for all staff and ongoing refresher training
  • Identify leads in each team to ensure appropriate training is completed by staff
  • Ensure there is a clear pathway for patients who want to stop smoking in both inpatient and community settings
  • To respond flexibly to training needs which may emerge within the division

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging individual to design and deliver Very Brief Advice smoking cessation training, utilising a Train the Trainer approach.

This training will increase the support we offer to our inpatients and community mental health patients to help them to stop smoking.
