Job Description

To ensure the highest quality of service is achieved by social work staff in the teams/services that constitute Placement Services through effective leadership and optimal use of resources.

To guarantee effective staff support, supervision, and professional practice development.

To achieve the best possible outcomes and cost-effectiveness from resources managed by the teams within placement services.

To contribute actively to the development and management of placement services across Moray.

To actively participate in enhancing the effectiveness of the teams within Placement Services.

Responsibilities

To manage and deliver Placement Services including Fostering, Adoption, and Kinship Care.

To supervise and ensure the quality and effectiveness of services align with national or agreed standards.

To continuously improve the services provided by Placement Services.

To identify staff development needs and oversee their realization.

To offer guidance and assistance to colleagues and contribute to the strategic development of childcare and Placement Services.

To undertake Moray-wide/national childcare Placement Services tasks and projects.

The Individual

Extensive post-qualification experience in placement services or similar childcare settings.

Prior supervisory/management responsibilities.

Experience in multi-agency collaboration, inspections, and service evaluations.

Proficient in budget management.

Hold relevant qualifications such as CQSW, CSS, or Dip SW, along with SSSC registration.

Ability to lead teams effectively, make informed decisions under pressure, and develop services/projects.

Excellent analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrate a strong professional identity and understanding of social work roles.

Skilled in chairing meetings and promoting informed practice.

Ability to manage change, allocate resources efficiently, and align services with organizational goals.

Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Full driving license and willingness to work outside regular office hours.
