We are looking for an experienced SEND officer for casework and statutory assessments you will facilitate planning meetings for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and disabilities, across the year old age range.

You will lead the assessment and planning process for families across schools and a range of service providers, including education, health, social care and voluntary sectors.


This is a temporary position to cover long term absence, with an initial 4 month term, which may be extended if needed.


You will work with children, young people and their parents, ensuring they are involved in the process and kept informed.

You will determine the appropriate provision to meet the individual's SEND, alongside parents/young people and professionals. You will ensure effective and timely delivery of the EHC needs assessment process and EHC plans. You will ensure compliance with the timescales for transition reviews for children and young people with EHC plans.

You will assist with quality assurance of the initial Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans.


To facilitate the role, you will be assigned a number of nurseries, schools and Post 16 providers including one or more special schools or units attached to mainstream schools.

You will build strong working relationships and will develop a deeper understanding of each of your settings, its curriculum, its class sizes and its students.

You will use this knowledge and understanding to support place planning and staff development across the borough.

You must be able to attend in person annual reviews / meetings etc. and have experience of writing education health and care plans/annual reviews.
