AJ Connect is delighted to be supporting a charitable organisation based in North Lanarkshire to appoint a Senior Finance Officer on a full-time, temporary basis.

As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the line management of the finance team, reporting to and working closely with the Finance Manager


Together with overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance team you will be responsible for processing sales invoices, assisting with the financial claims process, ensuring the accuracy of claims, and supporting documentation is submitted to funders in a timely manner.


In this role you will also assist with the development and monitoring of the accounting system and processes, including the production of management accounts up to trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis for budgets and forecasting.


You will work alongside the operational and support teams to identify and progress developments to drive business efficiencies that support the continuous improvement.


Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Compile and analyse the monthly management accounts including monthly cashflow
  • Review balance sheet reports on a regular basis to ensure accuracy
  • Support the Finance Manager in the review and ongoing identification of efficiencies and process improvements
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes
  • Working closely with the operational managers and team leaders to review and refine business processes
  • Support the Finance Manager in facilitation the external audit process annual and year end accounts.

Experience and Skills required:

  • QBE or Part-Qualified
  • ICAS, CCAB, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of management accounting
  • Experience of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Firstclass communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience of managing direct reports, and supporting their professional development


Excellent IT skills
  • MS Office and accounting software packages, Sage experience would be advantageous.
