Overview:
The HR Generalist supports the People Partner processes across Avalara's EMEA & Brazil operations.

You will provide administrative and Employee Relations assistance to the EMEA and Brazil People Partner community, (including employee status updates, change request submissions, reporting, termination process, document preparation and the management and coordination of ER related issues such as grievances and Performance Improvement Plans) while also providing dedicated People Partner support to our Corporate Functions in EMEA.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in our Brighton office twice a week, reporting into the Senior Director Human Resources - EMEA & LATAM.


  • Provide administrative and ER support to the EMEA & Brazil People Partner team.
  • Be the main contact for ER business matters, escalating issues to People Partners/Snr Director when needed.
  • Partner with the Global ER team to ensure EMEA and Brazil are represented in the development of procedures, implementing programs and policies throughout the businesses you support through communications planning, project management, data gathering and analysis.
  • Contribute to People Partner team projects.
  • Support People change initiatives for EMEA & Brazil.
  • Ensure accurate data quality for audits and reporting.
  • Support Finance and Legal leaders on people issues, ensuring compliance with regulations for example, organisational changes, employee relations, performance management, talent reviews, change management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Centres of Excellence for issue resolution.
  • Stay updated on local employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with HR areas to improve processes and foster collaboration for example, Total Rewards, Recruiting, TM/LD, HR Services

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Professional HR certification is beneficial.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a global matrixed HR organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Employee Relations with solid experience of EMEA labour laws and processes such as grievances, disciplinaries, consultation.
  • Experience with HR systems such as HRIS, ATS, Workday.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail ensuring all actions comply with labour laws, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • A solutionled mindset with experience of operating in a quick paced environment.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cultures and locations
