As part of this investment we are looking to recruit a
Community strategy Manager on a full time, permanent basis, based in Birmingham.



Job Purpose


To provide senior level focus to the management of key stakeholders, Community Rail Partnerships, Rail User Groups and other community groups within the business.

Deliver the commitments for Community Rail as defined within the WMT National Rail Contract.

Manage the Customer and Communities Improvement Fund (CCIF), including liaison with the Department for Transport, project leads and budget control.

Develop and deliver the WMT Community Rail Strategy in partnerships with WMT colleagues, community partners and the wider industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the strategic stakeholder relationships with Community Rail Partnerships, Rail User Groups and the wider community to ensure WMT interests are represented.
  • Manage 5 Community Rail Partnerships at strategic level including representing WMT at steering group meetings, developing activity plans, approving funding requests and identifying and securing 3rd party funding. Identify opportunities to establish new CRPs on the WMT network and assist with the development and delivery of CRP activity plans.
  • With the wider External Communications team, help deliver an engaging annual stakeholder conference.
  • Continue to manage an effective and productive relationship with the Community Rail Network, DfT and Network Rail and seek new relationships with local businesses to develop new partnerships and funding streams.
