Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom YMCA Robin Hood Group Full time

YMCA Robin Hood Group are looking for a HR Business Partner to join our team to cover a 9-12 month maternity leave, starting in August 2023.

We support vulnerable adults, young people and children across a wide range of services dotted across the Nottingham, Mansfield and Newark region.

We are immensely proud of the work we do and the difference we make to the communities we serve. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can become,

You will be the dedicated HR resource to 2 of our Service areas, where you will work really closely with those teams to support them in all areas of employee relations and HR matters.

This is a true business partner position where your knowledge and expertise will be valued and trusted as you immerse yourself into these departments so you truly understand the dynamics of how the service operates.

You will support employees and managers equally, being an open door for both to share concerns, celebrate successes and work collaboratively to achieve our ambitious organisation goals to grow and expand our services.

On a day to day basis, you can expect your role to include:

  • Build strong business relationships with Managers across the organisation
  • Support the delivery of HR Processes whilst remaining people centric;
  • Acts as a single point of contact for the employees and managers in the business units.
  • Act as first point of contact for all employee requests and queries such as new parent and flexible working requests and managing the process through to decision.
  • Develop, support and maintain a performance management culture by advising and guiding managers on performance management, redundancy and capability related casework;
  • Design succession plans for key talents and key job positions;
  • Act as performance management driver and provoke positive changes in people management by supporting and coaching managers, encouraging early intervention;
  • Identify gaps, purpose and implement change necessary to mitigate risks;
  • Advise managers on disciplinary and grievance issues, including assisting with disciplinary investigations, hearings and Appeals/Tribunals;
  • Lead on all employee casework regarding sickness and sickness absences, providing advice and support to line managers in case review meetings and progressing as necessary.
  • Be the first point of contact for all people grievances, complaints including harassment and bullying as well as whistleblowing;
  • Work with organisation teams to gather information from Employee Engagement Surveys, identifying actions and supporting managers to implement improvements;
  • Instigate and support employee Forums to ensure twoway communication;
  • Contribute to Intranet posts, articles and information including suggestions schemes, opinion surveys and feedback mechanisms
  • Support the Team to develop and implement joiner questionnaires, exit interviews and alumni groups.
  • Working with our Talent Acquisition Business Partner and HR Administrator to support with elements of recruitment processes, where appropriate.
  • Deputise for other P&C BPs in their absence.

As this is for a 9-12 month maternity contract, we are ideally looking for someone who can step into the role and "hit and ground running" as much as can be expected.

You will have experience of working in a business partnering role either to a business unit/division or in a smaller organisation where you have supported at all levels.

You will ideally be CIPD qualified with a generalist HR practitioner background.

Your interpersonal skills will be exceptional and you will be able to build rapport quickly and build trust with Managers and Employees alike.

You will have the confidence to challenge and question as well as probe for more information you need to make considered responses and recommendations.

You will have a commercial outlook and be able to help steer the service areas towards their decision making to achieve our group outcomes.

As part of this role, you will need to travel across our different locations to support the various sites we operate; you must have your own car and be comfortable to travel across Nottingham, Mansfield, Worksop and Goole.

Our main offices are based in Nottingham and we envisage this role being based at one of our site 3-4 days per week with 1-2 days being based from home.

If you are looking to work for an organisation who cares about you and your wellbeing, the YMCA prides itself on the package of wellbeing we support all our employees.

At YMCA Robin Hood Group, you will have many additional benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Comprehensive well-being package
  • Cashback private medical and dental policy
  • Generous holiday entitlement increasing 1 day each year for your first 5 years
  • Regular ongoing training
  • Subsidised childcare and holiday clubs
