Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities.

West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive - through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Our Activity Plan will deliver a range of new activities to reach a larger and more diverse audience for our service and the archives and local studies collections which record the histories of Cheshire's communities from the 12th century to the present day.

The postholder will be expected to build on the strong and productive relationships we have already built with community organisations across Cheshire during the project's development phase.

Working the wider Archives team, you will plan, coordinate and deliver many of the activities and projects identified within the Activity Plan, both leading up and following the opening of the new centres, currently anticipated to happen in Winter 2024/2025.

You should have experience of working with partners in the public and voluntary/community sector to deliver successful archives/museums/heritage initiatives and projects.

You should also be aware of best practice in engaging a diverse audience with archives/museums/heritage and be skilled at building and maintaining effective, positive relationships with community organisations.

It's important that you have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision, but also enjoy working within a wider team.

We are also looking for someone who has excellent organisational and time management skills and who is able to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences in a variety of ways.

You should have good presentation skills and be confident with using a range of video conferencing platforms (in particular MS Teams) for meetings, informal conversations and delivering workshops or presentations.

This role will involve both working from home, from the Cheshire Record Office in Chester and in venues across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East.

Cheshire West and Chester Council are committed to equality and diversity in employment. Please see the Equality Policy for more information.
