Ophthalmic Specialist Practitioner:

iSIGHT Clinics has been providing excellence in eye care for over 25 years.


Due to an extension of our normal working practices, and increased patient demand, iSIGHT Clinics is currently recruiting additional staff to include Ophthalmic Specialist Practitioners to work at our main hospital site in Southport and other Clinics.

As specialists in eye-care, iSIGHT Clinics offer services in refractive surgery, corneal laser eye surgery, Cataract surgery, Dry and Wet AMD services with Intravitreal injections, Glaucoma, Ocular plastic surgery, Neuro-ophthalmology, Orthoptics, Community Ophthalmology and General Ophthalmology.


Essential Requirements:

  • Slit lamp skills including applanation tonometry
  • Registered nurse (with ophthalmic experience) / Optometrist / Orthoptist qualification
  • Current appropriate professional body registration e.g., NMC, GOC
  • First Degree / Masters level study, or equivalent specialist study and postregistration experience
  • Ability to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Requirements

  • Good IT skills with Audit / research experience
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of latest Infection Prevention Controls
  • Effective organisational and time management skills
  • ILS certification, YAG Laser Capsulectomy or intravitreal injection skills, or willingness to acquire skills preferred

Duties of the post include:

  • Patient Consultation and advice on Management
  • Performing diagnostic assessments (including Biometry/Visual fields/ OCT) and ophthalmic procedures as part of the patient pathway
  • Running appropriate Clinics independently
  • Consent where appropriate
  • Provide ILS/ ALS cover to theatre for all aspects of ophthalmic surgeries including Fundus Fluorescein Angiograms
  • Preoperative and Postoperative assessment
  • Outreach clinics in the community
  • Assist Ophthalmologists to perform procedures within the clinic and theatre when required
  • Involvement in developing policies and protocols
  • Develop and expand own clinical practice to improve care and treatment
  • Member of the clinical oncall team on a rota basis
  • Promote efficient use of clinic time
  • Virtual clinics experience in Glaucoma or AMD followups is desirable, although full training will be provided
This role has been created as an extension to our normal working hours will include evenings and weekends.

Salary:
from £37,000

This position is full-time but would consider part-time

Benefits include 33 days annual leave (holidays and study) and company healthcare, pension scheme
