Great opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional to join a busy manufacturing organisation as a Senior Buyer

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer;

  • Review current supply chain strategy with a view to improve supplier Quality, on time delivery and drive cost savings.
  • Investigate new supply routes.
  • Reduce the current number of suppliers, consolidating demand and reducing cost.
  • Manage supplier relationship strategy, including arranging supplier visits and audits.
  • Review and manage the MRP data for the supply chain, including ensuring delivery lead times are correct.
  • Reviews supplier terms & conditions and lead long term contract negotiations and agreements with key suppliers.
  • Leads quality improvement projects with suppliers.
  • Lead new product introduction projects for the supply chain, identifying potential new suppliers.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key suppliers to promote processes that will reduce lead times, decrease costs, and ensure product and service quality.
  • Lead improvements including supplier managed inventories (VMI), electronic data transfer or Internet ordering.

Personal Specification of the Senior Buyer;

  • Proven Procurement experience
  • CIPS qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of working within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards all types of work.


This role would also suit you if you have held a role as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer, Commodity Manager or Purchasing Controller.
