We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time (35 hours per week) Food Service Supervisor to join our Food & Outlet Services team at West Dean College, part of the Edward James Foundation.


West Dean College
West Dean College of Arts and Conservation is a growing and internationally recognised College.

It is located on the 6,400-acre West Dean Estate in beautiful West Sussex countryside near Chichester, specialising in creative and applied arts.

As well as being a respected educational institution, the historic house and collections and the stunning grounds and gardens (which are open to the public) make West Dean a truly unique place to work.


The Role


West Dean College is no ordinary College: multiple outlets including large college dining room, private dining & corporate events, Gardens Restaurant and local tea room, all striving for the highest possible dining experience.


The Food Service Supervisor will supervise all food and beverage service and conference & events activities throughout the College, and may include fulfilling a host role for conferences and events as necessary.


Main Duties of the role include:1 Ensure the efficient and smooth running of food service, bar and conference & events activities at all times.

2 Supervise and review the service of food and beverages across the College estate.

3 Develop staff in all aspects of food and beverage.


4 Proactively plan and co-ordinate conferences and events to ensure that the needs of the customers are met to the highest standards at all times.

The Person

What we can offer you:

Full time is 35 hours per week worked on a rota basis, 5 days over 7, including weekends and bank holidays.

Shifts are dependent upon where you will be working, but include 7am-2pm, 1pm-9pm, 10.30am-5.30pm, 4.15pm-11.15pm. As Supervisor, you would be required to be available for any of these shifts.
