We are looking for a meticulous and experienced GP Assistant / Clinical Coder to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our patient records.


Main Job Purpose:


As a GP Assistant / Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for 'read coding' relevant information from patient's clinical letters into our data systems, EMIS and System One.

Your role is crucial in maintaining an accurate and easily accessible electronic summary of a patient's medical history, ensuring our clinicians have the information they need at their fingertips.

You will also ensure that any actions indicated in the clinical letters, such as blood tests, ECGs, or ongoing referrals, are properly organized and followed up.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read coding of relevant clinical information from patient letters into EMIS and System One systems.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic summaries of patient medical histories.
  • Follow up on actions from clinical letters, including but not limited to organizing blood tests, ECGs, and referrals.
  • Ensure patient data is entered promptly and accurately, supporting clinical decisionmaking processes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and data management processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care.
  • Proficiency with EMIS and System One clinical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in quality improvements and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and coding practices.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in clinical coding and patient data management.
  • Knowledge of NHS guidelines and standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
