Job summary

Kingsnorth Medical Practice are rated as outstanding by CQC. We have a patient population of circa 12,500 and are looking for a GP who can deliver safe and effective care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder should have an interest andenthusiasm in developing their career in a primary health care setting andgeneral practice. In addition to an interest in continuing professionaldevelopment. You would be providing GP services to our patient population, diagnosis, treatment and referrals for health conditions as presented under a GMS contract. We are a well-established tier 2 sponsor.

Main responsibilities of the role:

Inaccordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehim/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations and emergencies, telephone consultations/triage, e-consult and queries,visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, patient test results, referral letters NHS/private,paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner; Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, recording clear and contemporaneous IT based consultation notes to agreedstandards; Collectingdata and participating in Practice audits Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions and prescribingin accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines. Provide reports for employers, solicitors andinsurance companies and complete medical certificates, benefit agency formsetc. Ensure that all work carried out which carries a private fee is properlyrecouped and accounted for. Awarenessof and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, eg, prescribing, safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, QOF Assessment, CQC regulation. Maintaining and updating PDP. Attendingtraining, Practice Meetings and events organised by the Practice or otheragencies, where appropriate. Meetall tight deadlines to ensure that the Practice meets quality standards andreceives the designated funding ( Quarterly Enhanced Services returns,annual QOF audit etc.) The post-holder should recognise the importance ofeffective communication within the team and will strive to: Communicateeffectively with other team members; Communicateeffectively with patients and carers; Recognisepeople's needs for alternative methods of communication and respondaccordingly. Thepost-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

A vocationally trained and accredited GP, preferably with MRCGP. A good knowledge of and interest in general practice and primary care. Current registration with the GMC. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable

Previous experience in triage would be of great benefit. A good understanding of GMS contracting requirements and the operation of the Quality Outcomes Framework process.
