Skipton, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom Skipton Building Society Full time

Hours:
35 hours Monday to Friday

Fixed term contract

Salary:

£51,472 Per Annum

Closing Date:
Thu, 2 Mar 2023

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation.

We don't have shareholders, we're owned by our members.

Our colleague say Skipton's a great place to work and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

Job Description:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join our Financial Reporting Team as a Financial Reporting Specialist.

We've adapted really well to home working during the current pandemic, so although our Head Office is based in Skipton there would not be a requirement for you to be based here full time and we are happy to consider any flexible working requests you may have.

What You'll Be Doing

Your role will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of monthly Group management information for the Board, oversight of the consolidation of the annual Group corporate plan and quarterly forecast consolidations, and assisting your peers in the management of the production of our Group Annual and Interim Financial statements and production of quarterly Group regulatory reporting.

Other areas you will get involved in include liaising with external auditors, providing your expertise and opinions to conclude on new accounting requirements or financial accounting support to Group companies, maintaining our Group Accounting policies and keeping up to date with the latest accounting standards and policies that impact the Group.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone with a strong financial accounting background who understands the importance of a strong control environment.

The ability to effectively communicate and present technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, along with good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines will also be key.

You'll hold a relevant accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) and experience working in financial services would be highly advantageous although not essential.

Within the role you'll be working in partnership with various business areas, including our subsidiary finance teams, and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

We care about our colleagues. So we treat each other like the complex and diverse individuals we are.

Work here is never one-size-fits-all, it flexes around your strengths and needs,

Everyone is held accountable for achieving our common purpose.

The aim is for all of us to do better work, have a better life and enjoy a better balance between the two.
