Hours: 40 hours per week. There will be a requirement to work rotating shifts between the hours of 8am-7pm, five days a week. There will be a requirement to work some Saturday's 8:30am-4:30pm.**This exciting role aims to be the start of a long and fulfilling role in the veterinary sector, with many opportunities for career progression.


The role of a Patient Care Assistant is to support the nursing and wider practice team in achieving the highest standards of care, working enthusiastically within the team you will help maintain a happy, efficient and effective working environment.


The Patient Care Assistant role will involve working in a variety of areas within the practice covering client and patient care.

Approximately 20% of the role will involve working with the front of house team, ensuring compassionate communication to our clients and continuity of care for their pets.


Your role and responsibilities

  • Giving oral medication under supervision
  • Completing paperwork to ensure accurate monitoring of all inpatient care
  • Feeding inpatients, noting specific dietary needs
  • Exercising inpatients
  • Bathing and grooming inpatients if required
  • Deep Cleaning kennels, the hospital and other practice areas
  • Operating the laundry equipment
  • Checking stock levels and ordering supplies as necessary
  • Supporting the Clinical and Reception team
  • Answering calls and assisting owners
  • General housekeeping
  • Operating lab equipment to run tests
  • Supporting nurse team in Dispensary
  • Maintaining infection control
  • Patientfriendly handling
  • Providing supportive care to patients, under the direction of the Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse
