The role


West Midlands Police is going through some fundamental changes, so we are big enough to cope but small enough to care.

This exciting new opportunity will be at the forefront of these changes.

You will be part of a team that will drive, one of the forces largest departments, to deliver the best service possible to local communities.


As a Service Improvement Officer with Force Contact you will provide accurate, evidenced information that informs the department on its overall service delivery.

You will have a clear understanding of the department and how the systems and processes can be monitored and developed to maximise performance opportunities and service delivery improvement.

You will review the departments processes to ensure we are meeting the standards set by the Home Office and our internal Senior Leadership Team.


This role will be predominantly a Monday to Friday based in a central Birmingham location with some aspects of the role being agile.


Responsibilities:

  • You will monitor trends and anomalies within source data, reporting findings accurately and appropriately.
  • Develop and maintain relevant databases, spreadsheets and filing systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date information is available.
  • Collate and record performance indicators and statistical data and prepare relevant timely management information.
  • Maintain regular performance reports and be able to verbally communicate and / or present findings to senior audiences.
  • Run Oracle Discoverer and Signals from Noise (SFN) queries to provide analytical support to the NPU.
  • Understand and assist in the Departmental Quarterly Performance Review audit and inspection process.
  • Review staffing levels across departments and manage the movement of staff and overtime to ensure service delivery is maintained.

Essential Requirements:

  • You will be able to manage and prioritise their own workload
  • Have effective presentation skills.
  • Be able to review existing policy and procedure and make recommendations in light of current thinking and best practice.
  • Be able to work without direct supervision and make decisions using own initiative.
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills possess a good level of numeracy to effectively deliver the requirements of the role.
  • Confiidently use Microsoft Excel and Word

Vetting


Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.


Medical


Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.

  • Monday to Friday 37 Hours per week
